Crewe bus station opens to passengers

Peveril Securities and Cordwell designed this new facility for Cheshire East Council after a two year project to enhance transport interchange facilities in Crewe. Constructed by Bowmer and Kirkland the bus station delivers a modern, safer and convenient amenity for residents and visitors to the town.
The new facilities include: A fully-enclosed passenger waiting area with seating; 10 bus bays including one for coaches; toilets for passengers, including a disabled toilet and baby changing facilities; cycle stands; welfare facilities for bus drivers and CCTV is provided throughout.

Interclass appointed as main contractor to Wombourne Enterprise Park
Interclass, a local based company have been appointed to start work on this prominent development within Wombourne. The development will consist of a new Lidl store and 10,000 sq.ft. of retail & leisure units.
 
Work has commenced and will be completed by October 2024

Green light for Hazledine Park

Shropshire Council's planning committee approved plans for our mixed use retail / leisure and care home scheme at Meole Brace. The scheme will consist of a KFC drive through, Starbucks and 5 retail and leisure units, 3 of which are pre-let.

Work on site will commence later this year.

Planning Submitted For Meole Brace

Cordwell have submitted plans for a mixed use development South of Shrewsbury Town Centre.

The scheme will accommodate 2 drive through restaurants, 20,000sqft of retail and leisure space, EV charging and an 80 Bed Carehome.

Subject to planning permission, it's anticipated that the construction work on the mixed use element, which is already 75% pre-let, will commencing early next year with a completion date of Early 2024.

 

 

Transformative Bristol harbour regeneration project gets underway following Multi Million Pound investment

A transformative project to turn two former dockside sheds into a vibrant dining, retail and leisure destination, BoxHall, at Welsh Black Bristol, is now underway after securing a  multi million pound investment from Frontier Development Capital.

 

The funding package supports Cordwell Leisure Developments to kick-start the large-scale regeneration of 14,000 sq ft of space, formerly industrial buildings, dating back to the early 1900s - turning the site into a restaurant / food hall and events venue, located near the city’s historic harbour.

A Memorial lunch was held in honour of ‘ Willie ‘ Warrack at The Saville Club , Mayfair at which 25 friends and business colleagues were in attendance. Organised by Ranald Phillips and hosted by Kean Hird, attendees were regaled with stories from Nick Orme and career history from Malcolm Wilcox followed by abundant anecdotes of memories past in addition to good wine and food!

 

Giggling Squid to open in Harrogate

Successful Thai restaurant chain Giggling Squid are to open a new restaurant at our Harrogate site as it continues to push ahead with expansion. The high profile unit, in the centre of the Victorian spa town, which the group are currently fitting out, will be open in the Spring 2022. It will be their 47 restaurant and most northerly to date.

 

Approval granted for major town centre regeneration scheme

Peveril Securities and Cordwell Property Group are delighted to announce plans for phase one of the redevelopment of Crewe’s Royal Arcade site have been approved by Cheshire East councillors giving the green light to start work on one of the council’s most significant regeneration schemes for the town.

 

The phase two outline plans which formed part of the phase one planning application were also approved by councillors during the meeting today

Cordwell secure award winning Luxury brand Young Ideas

Cordwell have secured Young ideas, an award-winning luxury shopping destination for premium menswear and womenswear, to take space in their high profile retail unit in the centre of the Georgian Town of Ashbourne.

The unit which fronts the Shawcroft car park has opened for trade and will be their second store in the town, with other boutiques situated in Derby and Lichfield. Young Ideas pride themselves in offering a five-star personal shopping experience both in store and on line.

Cordwell announce first Boxhall concept for Bristol

Cordwell Property Group have announced that they have signed up BoxHall, part of the award-winning dining, retail and leisure concept Boxpark, for their stunning historic floating harbour development in the Centre of Bristol.

The group has agreed to take a 20 year lease at Welsh Back Bristol’s O&M’s sheds which will house its first BoxHall site. Opening next year BoxHall is Bristol’s new F&B-led concept with a modern food hall structure, set to offer premium product ranges and carefully-selected, authentic cuisine. The development will comprise of dedicated areas for a food hall attracting local and independent operators from Bristol and surrounding areas.

Works has started on Harbourside Shed in Bristol

After many years in the planning, work has commenced on our site in Bristol, overlooking the Floating Harbour paving the way for the regeneration of this landmark site and the much needed redevelopment of the last two remaining historic waterside sheds.

 

The extensive works required to ensure these buildings are transformed from their dilapidated current state will be completed early next year.

The plans for the new space will be announced shortly, so watch this space.

Listed Building Consent Approved

Cordwell received listed building consent in Bristol which paves the way for the regeneration of these two transit sheds on Bristol’s floating harbour.

 

The scheme will provide 13,800sqft of leisure space and has already got planning consent.

Work will commence early in the new year.

Wombourne Retail Park

Cordwell, in association with South Staffordshire District Council, achieved planning consent for the redevelopment of Wombourne Enterprise Park in the Summer.

 

The scheme will include a 24,000sqft Lidl Food Store, new modern industrial space for existing users on the site and 10,000sqft retail / leisure space.

 

The construction work is currently being tendered and work is due to commence in early to mid 2021.

The project team which included AHR, RPS, EBS, Mayer Brown and GIP – managed all of this during lockdown via ‘Teams’ – no mean feat!

Wisemore Central Delivered

Our mixed use scheme Wisemore Central was sold to private investors in January 2020. The Scheme, which consists of a 60 bed hotel, 2 storey McDonalds, GDK, Explore Learning, Consol and The Royal Punjab, was 100% pre-let on completion.

Development Agreement signed on Royal Arcade

Cordwell, along with our JV partners Peveril Securities Ltd have signed an agreement with East Cheshire which marks a significant move forward in Crewe’s transformation of the Royal Arcade scheme and will pave the way for planning applications to be submitted.

The Royal Arcade scheme will include a new bus station with an enclosed passenger waiting area, a 400-space multi-storey car park and leisure, restaurant and retail units –anchored by a new state-of-the-art cinema.

Demolition works at the Royal Arcade site will begin later this Autumn.

GDK opens at Wisemore Central

GDK, the gourmet kebab chain has opened at Wisemore Central taking a high profile, visible unit underneath the Travelodge Hotel in the centre of Walsall. The company which now has 44 restaurants in the UK and 70 units worldwide with 8 more opening shortly, will sit alongside Consol on the busy Littleton Street frontage. 

The successful and popular concept is a welcomed addition to the scheme which is now fully let.

The scheme, which includes Travelodge Hotels, McDonalds, Explore, GDK, Consol and a new restaurant soon to be announced, which was a brownfield site and vacant for years, now employs over 100 people on a full and part time basis.

Consol latest to sign up to Walsall scheme 

Consol, the nationwide sunbed operator, are taking their 46 unit within our Wisemore Central scheme as they continue their expansion. They join other national operators, Travelodge, McDonalds, Explore and GDK on the successful Town Centre scheme.

The scheme which was completed in the Spring now has all of the units let or under offer.

Fly Through for our Royal Arcade Scheme Launched 

A fly through model has been launched to show how the scheme will look once complete. The scheme which consists of an 8 screen cinema, let to Empire, an 18 lane Hollywood Bowl, gym, A3/4 restaurant / cafe / bars, new retail shops and a new bus terminal and car park is due to be submitted for planning shortly.

It's due to transform Crewe Town Centre and bring new leisure and retail opportunities which will enable a daytime as well as evening economy.

New Travelodge Hotel in Walsall officially opens

Travelodge have opened their first hotel in Walsall Town Centre following the completion of the final phase of Cordwell's Wisemore Central development.

 

West Midlands Mayor Andy Street, who officially opened the Walsall Hotel, said:  "I am delighted to see the completion of another phase of the Wisemore development and the opening of Walsall Travelodge which is yet more good news for the town.

"This hotel will make a real difference to the regeneration of Walsall and is yet another step forward towards supporting and saving our high streets."

Travelodge had over 4000 applications for jobs at the hotel.

Award winning Explore Learning opens its doors

 

Explore learning has opened its doors on Cordwell's Wisemore Central Scheme. The high-profile unit, which is directly opposite the entrance of an 85,000sqft Tesco, specialises in unique Maths, English and 11 Plus tuition services. Every child has their own programme of work which adapts to their own unique strengths and weaknesses and ensures that children are stretched and challenged in exactly the right areas

Cordwell's Two-Storey McDonalds Opens in Walsall

 

The new two-storey McDonalds, which forms part of Cordwell's Wisemore Development, in the Centre of Walsall has opened it's doors (and drive through) as phase one of the development has been completed. 

The well known brand have taken a two-storey unit fronting the busy Littleton Street West ring road and will sit adjacent to a brand new 60 bed Travelodge Hotel, which will opens later this month. The successful restaurant chain, which has incorporated table service, interactive tables, iPads, wireless charging into the new unit, along with the usual menu which includes salads, wraps and vegetarian options, will be a welcome addition to this former derelict site and be another positive in Walsall's regeneration plans.

Cordwell Selected by Shropshire Council For Major Gateway Site

Cordwell have been selected by Shropshire Council to develop a major site on the south side of the Town. The scheme, which is adjacent to the busy Meole Brace Retail Park, will consist of a number of different uses including restaurants, cafe bars, retail and retirement / care home.

Pre-application discussions are well underway and it's hoped a application will be submitted later this year with work on site spring / summer next year.

West Midlands Mayor, Andy Street visits Walsall

This month has seen West Midlands Mayor, Andy Street call into our Walsall scheme to see progress on site and learn more about our proposals and timescales for completion. The scheme which consists of a Travelodge Hotel, two storey McDonalds, Explore learning, GDK and 2 other retail units is under construction in the Town Centre on a former brownfield site which Cordwell are bringing back to life.

GDK, the gourmet kebab chain is taking a high profile, visible unit underneath the Travelodge Hotel within the Wisemore Development. Planning Success in Bristol

Cordwell Property Group are delighted that The Planning Inspectorate have approved their plans for a family focused restaurants led scheme on Bristol's Floating Harbour.

This now paves the way for work to commence on regenerating these dilapidated buildings, breathing new life into this City Centre location allowing users and occupants to enjoy the water side views as well as creating local jobs.

£6.9m backing for Walsall town centre development by WMCA’s Collective Investment Fund

More than 100 new jobs will be created when a derelict piece of land in Walsall town centre is brought back into commercial use with a £6.9 million investment by the West Midlands Combined Authority .

 

Work on the plot in Littleton Street West will begin in January 2018 by Worcestershire developers Cordwell Property Group  covering 35,000 square feet the site will house a 60 bedroom Travelodge hotel, a drive-through McDonald’s plus three retail units, creating up to 130 new full and part-time jobs.

 

The overall cost of the scheme will be £7.5 million.

 

M&S Food Hall Opens its Doors

M&S have opened their brand new food store in Eastleigh Town Centre, 6 weeks after the building was

handed over by Cordwell and their contractor Benniman.

The store saw huge queues outside on opening day and the feedback and comments about the new offer and store in general have all been extremely positive. It provides around 60 part and full time jobs to local people and will be a fantastic addition to the Town Centre.

 

Another on time, on budget Cordwell Scheme Completes

 

Cordwell and their team have completed the shell build of the brand new Marks and Spencer Simply Food store in Eastleigh, on time and on budget. The building was handed over to Marks and Spencer for their internal fitout to commence 4 weeks ahead of schedule and the store will be open to customers in August this year.

The BREEAM very good store is on two floors and includes a cafe with public art glazing as well as an external 'living' wall and rain harvest water system

 

Cordwell Appointed on Gateway Bromsgrove Site

 

Midlands based Cordwell Property Group have been appointed by Bromsgrove District Council to develop a prominent gateway site in the centre of Bromsgrove.

Members approved the disposal of the Stourbridge Road car park to Cordwell Property Group who were selected from seven parties that put forward proposals for the site.

 

The scheme will consist of upto 3 units which will be occupied by well established brand names along with high quality development. The scheme will also create local employment opportunities in the area.

Planning for the scheme is due to be submitted later this year.

 

Solander da Cruz designed the scheme for Cordwell and John Dillon advised Bromsgrove District Council on the disposal of the site.

Cordwell Appoint Benniman's on M&S Simply Food
 

Cordwell Property Group are pleased to announce they have appointed Midland based Benniman Construction Group to construct a brand new, state of the art 16,000 sq ft Marks & Spencer’s Simply Food in the Town Centre of Eastleigh, Hampshire.

 

The team will be backed up by Birmingham based professionals consisting of AHR, Nolan’s Associates, Riley Consulting, DBK, Rose Project Services and Gateley.

 

Construction will commence on site in April with the hand over of the store to Marks & Spencer later this year.

Portobello Student Apartments completes Cordwell’s Mixed Use Scheme

 

The final piece of the jigsaw of Cordwell’s mixed use car park and retail scheme in the Centre of Sheffield has opened it’s doors to the University population of Sheffield.

Portobello House, which stated on Hello Student’s web site as ‘the best-located student property in the whole city’ and ‘the best looking, too’, has 134 apartments from studio’s to two bed apartments and are ‘top-of-the-range set-up’ which includes an on site gym.
