GDK, the gourmet kebab chain has opened at Wisemore Central taking a high profile, visible unit underneath the Travelodge Hotel in the centre of Walsall. The company which now has 44 restaurants in the UK and 70 units worldwide with 8 more opening shortly, will sit alongside Consol on the busy Littleton Street frontage.
The successful and popular concept is a welcomed addition to the scheme which is now fully let.
The scheme, which includes Travelodge Hotels, McDonalds, Explore, GDK, Consol and a new restaurant soon to be announced, which was a brownfield site and vacant for years, now employs over 100 people on a full and part time basis.
Consol, the nationwide sunbed operator, are taking their 46 unit within our Wisemore Central scheme as they continue their expansion. They join other national operators, Travelodge, McDonalds, Explore and GDK on the successful Town Centre scheme.

Travelodge have opened their first hotel in Walsall Town Centre following the completion of the final phase of Cordwell's Wisemore Central development.
West Midlands Mayor Andy Street, who officially opened the Walsall Hotel, said: "I am delighted to see the completion of another phase of the Wisemore development and the opening of Walsall Travelodge which is yet more good news for the town.
"This hotel will make a real difference to the regeneration of Walsall and is yet another step forward towards supporting and saving our high streets."
Travelodge had over 4000 applications for jobs at the hotel.
Explore learning has opened its doors on Cordwell's Wisemore Central Scheme. The new two-storey McDonalds, which forms part of Cordwell's Wisemore Development, in the Centre of Walsall has opened it's doors (and drive through) as phase one of the development has been completed.
The well known brand have taken a two-storey unit fronting the busy Littleton Street West ring road and will sit adjacent to a brand new 60 bed Travelodge Hotel, which will opens later this month. Plans for our major town centre regeneration scheme in Crewe has taken a step forward with Empire cinemas signing up to a new 7 screen, 800 seater cinema. The scheme, which is a JV with Peveril Securities and B&K, will consist of other leisure uses, restaurant / cafe / bars as well as new retail space, a 450 space car park and new bus interchange.

Work on our mixed use scheme in the centre of Walsall Town Centre is taking shape with all 3 buildings now nearing completion. Cordwell Selected by Shropshire Council For Major Gateway Site
Cordwell have been selected by Shropshire Council to develop a major site on the south side of the Town. The scheme, which is adjacent to the busy Meole Brace Retail Park, will consist of a number of different uses including restaurants, cafe bars, retail and retirement / care home.
Pre-application discussions are well underway and it's hoped a application will be submitted later this year with work on site spring / summer next year.

All Systems Go on Mixed Use Scheme

Stepnells appointed on Gateway Mixed Use Scheme
Cordwell Property Group has announced that they have appointed leading construction contractor Stepnell to deliver their key mixed use scheme for the regeneration of a major town centre site in Walsall.
Wisemore Central will bring a Travelodge Hotel, McDonalds, and a further 15,000sqft of leisure and retail premises to the town; connecting the ‘western’ quarter as part of a wider ‘community-spirited’ hub. The proposed £7.8 million development will see the delivery of a 60-bed hotel, two-storey McDonalds restaurant, Explore Learning, GDK and Costa, with a further unit to let, with the scheme generating between 100 and 120 full- and part-time posts.
Cordwell selected for Leisure Scheme in Kidderminster
Cordwell Property Group and Peveril Securities have been selected by Wyre Forest District Council to transform a major gateway development site in the heart of Kidderminster Town Centre. The Scheme which is the former Forest Glades Swimming Baths will be developed to provide a new multiplex cinema, gym and a number of restaurant / cafe and bars.

£6.9m backing for Walsall town centre development by WMCA’s Collective Investment Fund
More than 100 new jobs will be created when a derelict piece of land in Walsall town centre is brought back into commercial use with a £6.9 million investment by the West Midlands Combined Authority .
Work on the plot in Littleton Street West will begin in January 2018 by Worcestershire developers Cordwell Property Group covering 35,000 square feet the site will house a 60 bedroom Travelodge hotel, a drive-through McDonald’s plus three retail units, creating up to 130 new full and part-time jobs.
The overall cost of the scheme will be £7.5 million.
M&S Food Hall Opens its Doors
M&S have opened their brand new food store in Eastleigh Town Centre, 6 weeks after the building was
handed over by Cordwell and their contractor Benniman.
The store saw huge queues outside on opening day and the feedback and comments about the new offer and store in general have all been extremely positive. It provides around 60 part and full time jobs to local people and will be a fantastic addition to the Town Centre.
Planning Granted to transform high profile site on Walsall ring road.
A NEW mixed used scheme on Littleton Street West was given the go ahead by Walsall Council’s planning Committee last night as they agreed to the proposal which will include a new Travelodge Hotel, 2 storey McDonalds drive through and ground floor leisure and retail uses.
The scheme, which will be known as ‘Wisemore Central’, will totally transform the existing derelict site which sits opposite an 85,000sqft Tesco Extra, and will fit in with the £400million ‘Gigaport’ scheme, The Office Corridor has the potential over time, to create up to 3,200 jobs, retain and attract new commercial enterprises to the town.
Cordwell Selected for Major Town Centre Scheme
Cordwell and Peveril Securities have been selected by Chester East Council to develop a major mixed used leisure and retail scheme, car park and bus station in the centre of Crewe.
The scheme will offer more than 90,000sqft of retail space in addition to an 8 screen cinema, gym and restaurants.
Colliers, Kinght Frank and New Street Commercial are already in discussions with a leading cinema and gym operator together with a major household name retailer to anchor the scheme.
Another on time, on budget Cordwell Scheme Completes
Cordwell and their team have completed the shell build of the brand new Marks and Spencer Simply Food store in Eastleigh, on time and on budget. The building was handed over to Marks and Spencer for their internal fitout to commence 4 weeks ahead of schedule and the store will be open to customers in August this year.
The BREEAM very good store is on two floors and includes a cafe with public art glazing as well as an external 'living' wall and rain harvest water system
Mark and Spencer Food Hall Nears Completion
The shell works on the new Marks and Spencer Food Hall are nearing completion with the installation of the new public art glazing at the front of the store which will form part of the new cafe inside the new M&S Store.
The scheme also includes external seating, landscaping, a green living wall and rain water harvesting.
The new 16,000sqft store will be handed over to M&S next month for their fit out and will open after the summer.
Portobello Student Apartments completes Cordwell’s Mixed Use Scheme
The final piece of the jigsaw of Cordwell’s mixed use car park and retail scheme in the Centre of Sheffield has opened it’s doors to the University population of Sheffield.

Cordwell Appoint Benniman's on M&S Simply Food
Cordwell Property Group are pleased to announce they have appointed Midland based Benniman Construction Group to construct a brand new, state of the art 16,000 sq ft Marks & Spencer’s Simply Food in the Town Centre of Eastleigh, Hampshire.
The team will be backed up by Birmingham based professionals consisting of AHR, Nolan’s Associates, Riley Consulting, DBK, Rose Project Services and Gateley.
Construction will commence on site in April with the hand over of the store to Marks & Spencer later this year.
Cordwell Appointed on Gateway Bromsgrove Site
Midlands based Cordwell Property Group have been appointed by Bromsgrove District Council to develop a prominent gateway site in the centre of Bromsgrove.
Members approved the disposal of the Stourbridge Road car park to Cordwell Property Group who were selected from seven parties that put forward proposals for the site.
The scheme will consist of upto 3 units which will be occupied by well established brand names along with high quality development. The scheme will also create local employment opportunities in the area.
Planning for the scheme is due to be submitted later this year.
Solander da Cruz designed the scheme for Cordwell and John Dillon advised Bromsgrove District Council on the disposal of the site.
Las Iguanas Take unit in Harrogate
Las Iguanas has taken a prominent unit in the vibrant restaurant quarter of John Street in the heart of Harrogate. The scheme was restored by Cordwell Property Group with 3 restaurant units, with outside seating under an exquisite cast iron canopy which is quintessentially Harrogate.
The fitout of the restaurant is of their usual high quality and accompanied with flame-grilled Latin American dishes and shared plates which are served in a contemporary dining room.
They join popular restaurants Pitcher and Piano, which has just also undergone a major refit, and Banyan Kitchen within the development.
Cordwell, along with our JV partners Peveril Securities Ltd have signed an agreement with East Cheshire which marks a significant move forward in Crewe’s transformation of the Royal Arcade scheme and will pave the way for planning applications to be submitted.
The Royal Arcade scheme will include a new bus station with an enclosed passenger waiting area, a 400-space multi-storey car park and leisure, restaurant and retail units –anchored by a new state-of-the-art cinema.
Demolition works at the Royal Arcade site will begin later this Autumn.
